Socioeconomic impact generated by our airports

The Milan airport system acts as a capital attractor, job generator, and activator or catalyst of investment initiatives for the whole Lombardy region (and it can often be said of the entire north-west of Italy).
It also has a clear role as extraordinary driver in some specific economic sectors such as tourism, logistics, transport and trade.
For this reason, we have built a data platform to periodically measure the socioeconomic impact locally generated.
In line with the most common approaches on infrastructure and transport networks, the direct, indirect, induced and catalytic impact analyses have been combined and integrated. The aim is to understand what are the socioeconomic impacts in which the airport is the direct protagonist as well as the originator, rather than just an activator, or even a central albeit not exclusive actor.
